New Slot.it Digital Racing
30th October 2008
Check out this writeup (http://www.slotcarillustrated.com/News/oxigen-digital-by-slot-it-a361.html )about Slot.It digital. This is what I always had hoped would happen: radios in carrs. At least that is what I think they are saying. According to this info, you can set up the lane changing system in the track and leave it in whether you are running digital or analog. Interesting. I have not seen anything on it but from here. It will be interesting to watch how it evolves.
Update: Checking the forum page, the have their first video of the racing (done within the last few days). From the page, it looks like this system simply lets you race the cars as usual, but you can switch tracks. You jump the power on each lane so it is powered at the voltage of the power supply, thus not limiting power for each car. The controllers are wireless so you don’t have to worry about plugging in either. It looks very cool; just what we were hoping for. But, it doesn’t appear that it will be out anytime soon. Next year at best.
Scalextric Gronholm Ford Focus WRC

This is my most recent purchase. So far I really really like this car. The handling is quite different from most of my other cars. It is All-Wheel Drive so I think that is part of it. The accelleration off the line is not as good as others but it seems to have a decent top end. Right now I’m the only one in the group with a WRC car so I haven’t tested it in class yet.
This car has stunning looks, though. The headlights are amazingly bright and I love that the tail lights are next to the rear window instead of above the bumper. It looks really good running in the dark. The interior is cool too. There are even pace notes written on the codriver’s clipboard. The antennas are soft rubber so I think they will last a long time.
This is my first car that has the drive gear on the fron axle. To move the rear wheels there is a belt that runs to the back. I couldn’t help my self and I removed the belt to make it front wheel drive. It was a little dissapointing. It was quite a bit worse. It seemed to roll over easier in the turns. I didn’t drive it very long like that.
So far I really like this car. I think it will be really good when raced in class. It has a lot of potential for some challenging driving.
Introduction
20th October 2008
We’ve been racing slot cars for many years now. We started out on a classic Scalextric track, and now we race on a Ninco track. We race all classes of cars. NASCAR, LMP, F1, Indy, GT, JGT, Semi, Minis, just to name a few.
I’d like to use this to post reviews and information about what we are doing with our track. We’ll see how things go.
